“The time is right for us to re-center on a common mission, vision and values,” said Tom Fleetwood, Director, Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development. “The reality is these are things we do every day. By articulating and emphasizing these messages across our agency, we collectively point to a ‘North Star’ which will ultimately result in a Fairfax County everyone can afford to call home.”

The new Mission, Vision and Values were developed with input from the 150+ staff members of the housing team.

  • Mission: We serve the people of Fairfax County by creating housing opportunities to promote inclusive and thriving communities.
  • Vision: A community everyone can afford to call home.
  • Values: At Fairfax County Department of Housing and Community Development, we are an effective organization where we treat each other and our community in alignment with these values:
    • Equity: We remove barriers and provide access to opportunities.
    • Trust: We communicate openly and deliver on our commitments.
    • Innovation: We are creative and develop ground-breaking solutions.
    • Flexibility: We adapt and evolve to meet new challenges.

As a part of the new mission, vision and values, agency staff shared perspectives about their related work in the community on Fairfax County’s new affordable housing playlist.

The agency also unveiled a new LinkedIn page for the Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority.
