Description: This feature class consists of fire box boundaries (last updated December 2020) for the Fire & Rescue Department. These boundaries are used in the CAD system and are used to identify the backup fire station dispatch order. This data set includes accurate fire box boundaries for Fairfax County and the City of Fairfax. Washington Dulles International Airport is not up-to-date. Other jurisdictions are included for dispatch purposes, but those box boundaries are not exact. This feature class does not accuratey reflect the first due or a homogeneous run order. As boxes are edited for other resaons, 3-deep run orders are incorporated. The edges of a box are more likely to deviate from the central 3-deep run order. Description: The Emergency Service Boundary - EMS layer defines the geographic area for the primary providers of EMS services as defined by the Emergency Service Number (ESN) in the Verizon Master Street Address Guide (MSAG) dataset. This layer does not delineate specific agency or unit assignment and response areas. It should be noted that in Fairfax County, Fire and EMS reside together and are not seperated into distinct agencies. However, per the requirements of the NG9-1-1 data model, there must be seperate GIS layers for each. To fulfill this requirement, the Fire layer was duplicated to produce the EMS layer. This layer represents the Emergency Service Boundary - EMS layer that is provisioned to EGDMS. It is clipped to the provisioning boundary to remove any portions extending beyond the provisioning boundary. Any gaps between this layer and the provisioning boundary have been filled with neighboring data. As a result, this layer contains both Fairfax and non-Fairfax data. The source non-clipped layer can be found in the NG911_BOUNDARY feature dataset which is where feature edits should occur. This layer should not be edited directly. This layer should be updated in coordination and agreement with neighboring PSAPs to ensure that data is seamless across borders. This layer should not contain unintentional gaps or overlaps. Description: The PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) Boundary layer is a polygon that defines the geographic area that a PSAP or 911 Authority has responsibility for emergency service requests. In an NG9-1-1 environment, the PSAP Boundary layer determines the PSAP that should receive a 911 call. This layer is used by the ECRF (Emergency Call Routing Function) to validate the location of a 911 call and perform a geographic query against the PSAP boundary layer to determine the PSAP that is responsbile for the 911 call. This layer represents the PSAP Boundary layer that is provisioned to EGDMS. It is clipped to the provisioning boundary to remove any portions extending beyond the provisioning boundary. Any gaps between this layer and the provisioning boundary have been filled with neighboring PSAP data. As a result, this layer contains both Fairfax and non-Fairfax data. This layer should not be edited directly. This layer should be updated in coordination and agreement with neighboring PSAPs to ensure that data is seamless across borders. This layer should not contain unintentional gaps or overlaps. Gaps and overlaps have the potential to result in a delay in emergency response due to the inability of the ECRF to use the PSAP boundary to query in areas of gaps (area of no coverage) and/or overlaps (duplicate coverage).Contact: Fairfax County GIS DivisionData Accessibility: Publicly availableUpdate Frequency: As needed and dependent upon EGDMS provisioning schedule.
