The Deputy County Executive is also responsible for the County’s Employee Health and Wellness Program and the County’s award winning Special Needs Registration, Communications and Evacuation and Sheltering Program for county residents.
The deputy county executive:

Reports directly to the county executive

Coordinates the activities of departments, functions and programs in
the deputy county executive group

Works with the Office of Public Affairs and the
Fairfax County Economic
Development Authority

Serves on the county's Strategic Information Technology Committee and
chairs the e-Government Steering Committee
- Works with boards, authorities and commissions appointed by the county’s Board of Supervisors including:

Publicizes the county's information related services and
capabilities
- Represents Fairfax County on local, state, national and international government groups and committees
In addition, the deputy county executive is responsible for the strategic direction of the county's award winning e-government program, which includes the county's Web site, multimedia kiosks, interactive voice response systems, mobile access, Access Fairfax , cable television channel and social media channels (Get Fairfax).
Fairfax County is a leader in e-government and e-business transactions and services. The e-government program addresses the digital divide by providing multiple platforms for transactions with the county and has been successful in creating a 24-hour government, without doors, walls or clocks.
