Traffic Infractions and Uniform Fine Schedule

RULE-3B:2. Uniform Fine Schedule. -- For any offense listed below, whether prescribed by the specified State statute or by a parallel local ordinance adopted pursuant to the authority granted in Virginia Code Sec. 46.2-1300, a driver may enter a written appearance, waiver of court hearing, plea of guilty, and prepay fines and costs. For traffic offenses not listed below, a court hearing is required.

This schedule is applied uniformly throughout the Commonwealth, and a clerk or magistrate may not impose a fine and cost different from the amounts shown here when accepting prepayments. The schedule does not restrict the amount of the fine a judge may impose for an offense listed here in any case that is not prepaid and for which there is a court hearing.

Please call the Traffic Clerk's Office at 703-246-3764 or the Criminal Clerk's office at 703-246-3305 if your charge is not listed below. Some traffic charges, such as DWI, Reckless Driving and Driving on a Suspended License, and many criminal charges cannot be prepaid.

Processing fees for traffic violations are $62.00 for the first ticket and $11.00 for each additional ticket. If you receive more than one ticket at the same time, subtract $51 from the total of each additional ticket. A safety belt violation is a civil penalty, no processing fees are assessed for this offense.

Processing fees for criminal violations are $82.00 for the first ticket and $21.00 for each additional ticket. If you receive more than one ticket at the same time, subtract $61 from the total of each additional ticket.

If your summons is from another jurisdiction, call the Court first to determine the correct amount for the processing fee.
