Fairfax County DV Network’s Tier One Training


Fairfax County DV Network’s Training Committee
is pleased to announce
the next round of Tier One training.

Tier One is a 16-hour orientation training on the dynamics of domestic
and sexual violence and stalking, the criminal & civil justice systems that
respond to those crimes, and available resources in our community.

The training is designed for professionals, volunteers, and community
members interested in ending domestic and sexual violence in Fairfax County.

Participants who complete both days of the Tier One training will
receive a Certificate of Completion.

Is this training right for you? Tier One training explores topics that may be challenging. Sometimes learning about these topics or providing support to other people impacted by domestic and sexual violence may trigger difficult feelings for participants. DV Network Tier One Training: Day One - Fundamentals

The first day of Tier One training provides participants with an overview of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Topics also include the impact of domestic violence on children and assessing for lethality or risk in domestic violence cases. Day one also will focus on developing the participants’ responses to individuals and families impacted by domestic violence. Presentations will focus on crisis intervention, understanding trauma, and vicarious trauma.

DV Network Tier One Training: Day Two – Justice and Resources

The second day of Tier One training provides participants with an overview of the civil and criminal justice systems.  Topics include information on criminal cases, protective orders, county resources available for victims, offender services, safety planning and advocacy.
