Community Facilitator Training

Learn how to facilitate an effective community dialogue or focus group.  Training includes lecture and exercises with an emphasis on "dealing with conflict".  Attend one of two sessions (October 23rd or 29th).The October 29th session will be extended by one hour to include skills training in "active listening" and "intervening in the moment".  Trainees will receive a certificate of completion and will agree to facilitate one  community dialogue/focus groups within the next 12 months. Interfaith Domestic Violence Response Workshop: “The Impact of Domestic Violence on Children”

The workshop will train clergy, faith leaders and faith congregants to recognize signs that indicate a child's exposure to domestic violence, understand challenges, and identify/access victim resources.

Presenters: Allison Medina (Program Manager, Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, The Women’s Center) and Amanda Millir (Break the Cycle Program Coordinator, The Women’s Center)

This workshop is presented by Fairfax County Department of Neighborhood & Community Services  (NCS), Fairfax County's Community Interfaith Coordination Unit (CIC), and The Faith Communities in Action (FCIA) Interfaith Domestic Violence Prevention Committee in coordination with The Women's Center
