Diversity Workshop: Expand Your Religious and Cultural Knowledge (For Chaplains Only)

The DC, Maryland and Virginia (DMV) region is home to many cultures and beliefs. The Fairfax County Community Interfaith Coordination Unit makes continuous efforts to promote respect and understanding of our diverse communities, and to provide the resources needed for assisting them. Dr. Naomi Paget will be with us for an all-day training on Diversity, which will better equip those trying to make a difference in reaching out across religious and cultural boundaries. Register now for this training presentation, the purpose of which is to bridge language, cultural and religious gaps within our communities. This event is for FCCC chaplains only. The Deadline for Registration is Wednesday, February 1, 2017.

Refugee Resettlement - Putting a Human Face on Refugees in Our Midst

Join us to learn about the legal process and programs/services available to support refugee resettlement, plus the personal stories of refugees who live in Fairfax County today. You will also hear from volunteers who serve the refugee community, and details on how you can give your time to these efforts. Refreshments will be served at 3:30 p.m.; the program will begin at 4:00 p.m.

Please join us to learn how to recognize domestic violence, understand challenges, and identify and access victim resources.

Workshop Includes:

• DV Prevention Resource Staffed Tables

Presenters: Allison Medina (Program Manager, Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, The Women’s Center) and Amanda Tenorio (Break the Cycle Program Coordinator, The Women’s Center)

This workshop is presented by Fairfax County Department of Neighborhood & Community Services  (NCS) and The FCIA Interfaith Domestic Violence Prevention Committee. Special Exercise Sponsored by the Jewish Coalition Against Domestic Abuse (JCADA).
