Podcast: County Executive and FCPS Superintendent Talk Collaboration, Budget and Winter Weather

Hill and Brabrand

On the latest edition of the “Connect with County Leaders” podcast, County Executive Bryan Hill is joined by Superintendent Scott Brabrand of Fairfax County Public Schools to discuss a variety of issues, including:

  • County government and school budgets
  • County government and school strategic plans
  • One Fairfax initiative for racial and social equity
  • Collaboration between county government and schools
  • Winter weather decision making

“Bryan has set the tone for an unprecedented level of collaboration and cooperation between the county and schools,” Brabrand says during the podcast. “The budget is always an issue of interest in the community, but sometimes it’s been focused more on confrontation instead of collaboration.”

“We don’t always agree on everything,” Hill says. “But I will tell you this — you will never hear us argue with each other. You’ll never hear us fighting with each other. You will hear us laughing a lot, but we will get to the ‘Yes.’ At some point, we’re going to be somewhere right on point saying this is where we need to go as a collective whole.”
