About Supervisor Bierman

James N. Bierman, Jr. ('Jimmy') was born and raised in McLean. His love for the Dranesville community started at an early age when he was first learning to swim at Spring Hill Rec Center and checking out books at the Dolley Madison Library. After earning degrees at Williams College and Stanford Law School, Supervisor Bierman knew he wanted to return to McLean to raise his own family and ensure they were afforded the same opportunities. Supervisor Bierman lives with his wife, two children, and two rescue dogs in McLean.

Supervisor Bierman will host Dranesville District Budget Town Halls on March 23 and March 25, bringing together FCPS School Board members and budget staff from both Fairfax County and FCPS to share information, gather community feedback, and answer residents’ questions.

In addition to the town halls, Supervisor Bierman breaks down the County budget on his social media channels, offering clear explanations of “Where It Comes From” and “Where It Goes.” Residents can watch these short videos to better understand how County revenues are generated and how funds are allocated across essential services.

Downtown McLean Development

The Board of Supervisors adopted the Plan Amendment for the McLean Community Business Center (CBC) in June 2021. The McLean CBC is an approximately 230-acre area centered around the intersection of Chain Bridge Road and Old Dominion Drive and is coterminous with the McLean Commercial Revitalization District

The Plan divides McLean into three zones: the Center zone is planned for taller building heights; the Edge Zone, which will maintain the existing residential and low-intensity commercial and institutional uses, and the General zone, which will have low and mid-rise development and serve as a transitional area between the Center and Edge zones.
