About Supervisor Bierman
James N. Bierman, Jr. ('Jimmy') was born and raised in McLean. His love for the Dranesville community started at an early age when he was first learning to swim at Spring Hill Rec Center and checking out books at the Dolley Madison Library. After earning degrees at Williams College and Stanford Law School, Supervisor Bierman knew he wanted to return to McLean to raise his own family and ensure they were afforded the same opportunities. Supervisor Bierman lives with his wife, two children, and two rescue dogs in McLean.

Fairfax County is home to around 80,000 federal employees and over 3,800 federal contractors. The Federal Workforce Resources Hub has been updated to help navigate current and future issues for residents, government employees, active military/veterans, contractors, nonprofits and businesses who may be affected by actions, changes or disruptions to federal services or employment. Key enhancements include a dynamic “Latest Update” section that reflects current events, streamlined navigation with user-friendly menu options—leading with Employment and Jobs—and direct links to the new Transit and Commuting Services page, LinkedIn page, and the Northern Virginia Regional Commission’s Federal Employee Data map.
Downtown McLean Development
The Board of Supervisors adopted the Plan Amendment for the McLean Community Business Center (CBC) in June 2021. The McLean CBC is an approximately 230-acre area centered around the intersection of Chain Bridge Road and Old Dominion Drive and is coterminous with the McLean Commercial Revitalization District.
The Plan divides McLean into three zones: the Center zone is planned for taller building heights; the Edge Zone, which will maintain the existing residential and low-intensity commercial and institutional uses, and the General zone, which will have low and mid-rise development and serve as a transitional area between the Center and Edge zones.
