Fairfax County’s budget is the backbone of the community, funding essential services like schools, public safety, parks, libraries, and more for all residents. By law, Virginia requires Fairfax County to create and maintain a balanced budget every year.
Planning the budget is a year-round effort that begins each fall. During this time, the County Executive and School Superintendent present their budget forecasts. These forecasts predict how the local economy, housing market, and tax revenues are expected to perform in the upcoming fiscal year.
