Current News and Notices

Winter Storm Update:  Fairfax County Public Information Office updates their website with the latest information on Weather and Operating Status Updates.  In addition, they offer the following tips;

  • VDOT asks that residents contact the agency if they have not seen a plow in their subdivision by Wednesday. Call 703-383-VDOT or e-mail novainfo@vdot.virginia.gov with the location. You also may E-mail photos.

  • Please avoid shoveling snow into the street as you clear snow around cars and from driveways and sidewalks. Assist our fire department by making sure you also dig out around fire hydrants.

  • Do not touch downed power lines or anything in contact. Report to Dominion Virginia Power at 1-888-667-3000 or NOVEC at 703-335-0500.

Hunter Mill Coat Closet, a cooperative program with my office and Reston Interfaith, begins operation on Saturday, November 14 at the North County Government Center, 12000 Bowman Towne Drive in Reston.  Last year, the Coat Closet distributed over 5,000 winter coats and 1,800 hats, gloves and scarves.  Again this year, your contributions of gently used or new adult and child sized coats are greatly appreciated.  The Coat Closet will be open to those in need of coats, or to drop off donations, on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to noon, Thursdays from 5:30 to 8 p.m., and Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., through March 13.  For the last eight years, our residents have pitched in to provide this valuable service to our neighbors in need.
