Upcoming Meeting:

You're invited to college! On December 15th (7-9 PM) in the Holmes Middle School  cafeteria, the Lincolnia Land Use College concludes. Presentation of new materials begins around 7:20.  The college is a series of classes that will provide you with all you want to know about the development process in Fairfax County and how you can shape decisions. We'll answer questions such as:

    • Who decides what gets built where?
    • What can we do about traffic and housing costs?
    • Why is development happening in some areas, but not others?
    • How can I shape my neighborhood's future?

Attendance at the college will help participants provide input during the Lincolnia Study. No registration necessary - and please invite your neighbors. Three sessions are being held to cover topics each session. If you can't make it to all the sessions, don't worry! We'll post all presentations to our meetings page.  Session information is below:

Session 1 (held October 25th):  Comprehensive Planning
Session 2 (held November 16th):  Transportation and Public Facilities Planning
Session 3 (December 15th/7-9 PM/Holmes Middle School):  Parks Planning and Implementing the Plan:  Rezonings, Site Plans, Building Plans, Capital Improvement Program.

Phase Two: This part of the Lincolnia Planning District Study is ongoing and is considering designating a portion of the Lincolnia area as a Community Business Center (CBC) within the Fairfax County Comprehensive Plan. Based on the outcome of that consideration, the study will then consider associated planning guidance, particularly land use and development intensity recommendations. In addition, the study will review and update planning guidance for the entire Lincolnia Planning District. The study will offer numerous opportunities for public input.

Phase One: Staff began work on Phase one in May of 2014, and concluded on October 20, 2015 with its adoption. The staff report for Phase One is available, as are additional materials via the icons linked at the top of this page. Phase One had two major objectives:

  1. Evaluate the adopted Comprehensive Plan recommendations in order to verify that factual information was current. These updates were editorial in nature; therefore changes to planned land use and intensity, transportation, parks and recreation facilities, and /or public facilities were not evaluated. Updates primarily involved correcting factual information and reflecting existing development where appropriate.

  2. Consider whether the Plan guidance for portions of the L3 Bren Mar Park Community Planning Sector and the Beltway South Industrial Area should be consolidated with the other recommendations for the Beltway South Industrial Area, in the Annandale Planning District.

Questions can be emailed or directed to planner Faheem Darab at 703-324-1351 or 703-324-1380 (TTY 711).
