This Section provides quality procurement
of goods and services for the Fire and Rescue Department, through
its various branches and shops:
Receives and distributes a variety of property
and equipment used by the Department in the delivery of routine
and emergency fire and EMS services. Pick-up and delivery of
supplies to all Sections within the Department is accomplished
on a regularly scheduled basis. The branch provides numerous
services that both enhance the operation, and support the overall
mission, of the Fire and Rescue Department.
Ensures the operational readiness of all Department work locations
by coordinating the maintenance of facilities with the appropriate
support agency, and by tracking the repairs and replacements
of appliances and furnishings . In conjunction with other county
agencies, the branch compiles the long-range renovation request
report (3099) and oversees each project as it receives funding.
Ensures the highest level of fiscal responsibility and inventory
accountability for Department resources. This is accomplished
through the establishment and adherence to strict asset management
controls.
Provides goods and services that enable all sections to deliver
quality service to those we serve. The goal of the branch is
to address the Department requirements, maintain excellent customer
service, and to operate within the established purchasing and
financial guidelines of the county.
Repairs, calibrates and maintains all air monitoring and testing
devices; and oversees the maintenance of required records for
all monitoring devices, in accordance with industry standards
and requirements. The shop also provides training to all Department
uniform personnel to ensure the proper use and maintenance of
air monitoring and testing devices.
Provides certified technicians for the maintenance, repair
and testing of all breathing air equipment, in accordance with
established standards and requirements; and maintains necessary
records and tracking of preventative maintenance, repairs and
testing on all breathing air equipment. The shop also provides
training to all Department uniform personnel to ensure the proper
cleaning, disinfecting, maintenance, and record keeping of respiratory
protection equipment assigned to operational functions.
Purchases and issues all personal protective equipment, and
insures the proper fit for all department members. Provides
the care, maintenance, cleaning and testing of 1500 sets of
personal protective turnout gear. Conducts field evaluations
of new equipment and gives input to NFPA guidelines on fire
fighter turnout gear. Stays abreast of all Federal, State, OSHA
and NFPA standards as they apply to personnel protective equipment
and clothing. Maintains required databases on protective equipment
to ensure above standards are met. Plans and projects future
needs for the Fire & Rescue Department.
