Human Resources
The Human Resources Section of the Fire and Rescue Department is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing personnel, payroll and the promotional exam qualification system. This Section also reviews and interprets applicable federal and state laws relating to employment practices. The Personnel and Payroll branch provides benefit and pay information to uniform and civilian employees. The Promotional Exam and Professional Development branch coordinates with the Department of Human Resources to develop and administer promotional exams for uniform ranks. This branch also provides guidance to uniform personnel on the professional development program. In addition, this Human Resources Section represents the Department during public meetings, court hearings, and the Civil Service Commission, and is the Department's liaison with the County Attorney's Office.
