Women's Program Office
The goals of the Fire and Rescue Women's Program Office includes:
- Addresses womens issues as they relate to the job of firefighter/paramedic
- Presents research to the Fire Chief as it relates to the concerns of women regarding promotion, recruitment, retention, facilities, fitness and health care
- Coordinates with professional organizations to evaluate and access current trends and issues associated concerning women in emergency services
- Works in partnership with the EEO Officer as the women's advocate
Some of the highlights of program development include:
- Trained recruits in conjunction with the EEO Officer
- Assisted with the procurement of auxiliary trailer for women at the Fire and Rescue Academy
- Assisted in the development of the pregnancy and reproductive health manual
- Presented workshops at conferences across the region on pregnancy in the fire service
