Springfield Garden Apartment Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a garden apartment fire at approximately 1:05 a.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2005, in the Springfield area of Fairfax County. The four-story garden apartment is located at 6434 Edsall Road.

Firefighters saw fire and smoke coming from the attic and roof upon arrival. Firefighters brought the fire under control in approximately 15 minutes. Three adults have been displaced and are being assisted by the Red Cross. There were no injuries.

Damage is estimated at $50,000.

According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. An electrical irregularity in the ceiling of the top floor apartment caused the fire.
