Restaurant Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a commercial building fire at approximately 7:50 a.m., Friday, June 30, 2006, in the Town of Herndon. The restaurant, Bombay Cafe is located at 724 Pine Street.

Upon arrival firefighters reported a one-story commercial building with smoke visible throughout the structure. The fire was brought under control in approximately 15 minutes. The restaurant was not occupied and sustained damage to the kitchen. There were no reported injuries.

Damage is estimated at $165,000.

The cause of the fire was accidental. A deep fryer was left on, causing hot cooking oil to ignite combustible materials.
