Herndon House Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire at approximately 6 p.m., Monday, October 16, 2006, in the Herndon area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 1511 Snowflake Court.

First arriving firefighters reported heavy smoke from the first and second floor upon arrival. Firefighters conducted an aggressive attack and brought the fire under control in approximately 15 minutes. Six adults and three children have been displaced. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents. There were no injuries.

Damage is estimated at $125,000.

According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. The fire started in the kitchen and was caused by unattended food left on the stove.
