Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a high-rise condominium fire at approximately 2:35 a.m., Sunday, November 12, 2006, in the Huntington area of Fairfax County. The 16-story condominium is located 5904 Mount Eagle Drive.
Firefighters responded to the seventh floor of the building and saw smoke coming from one of the condominium units. An additional alarm was quickly dispatched bringing over 60 firefighters to the scene. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire in the living room. One adult female was transported to Alexandria Hospital for non-life threatening burns. One firefighter was transported to Inova Mount Vernon Hospital for a non-life threatening injury. The Red Cross is assisting the one displaced adult.
Damage is estimated at $50,000.
According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. An unattended candle in the living room caused the fire.
