Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department fire investigators charged a female juvenile from the Reston area on Tuesday, June 26, 2007, for setting a fire to property valued less than $200.00, (Class 1, Virginia Code § 18.2-81), and for setting fires capable of spreading value over $200.00, (Class 6 felony, Virginia Code § 18.2-86).
The arrest is in connection of the car fire, Tuesday, June 26, 2007, and two waste receptacles set on fire in the Reston area Monday, June 25, 2007. No injuries were reported.
Class 1 misdemeanor, confinement in jail for not more than twelve months and a fine of not more than $2,500, either or both. Class 6 felonies can convey a term of imprisonment of not less than one year nor more than five years, or in the discretion of the jury or the court trying the case without a jury, confinement in jail for not more than 12 months and a fine of not more than $2,500, either or both.
The juvenile will be held at the Juvenile Detention Center pending court hearing.
