Lightning Causes Springfield House Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire at approximately 2:10 p.m., Sunday, July 29, 2007, in the Springfield area of Fairfax County. The home is located at 7710 Mulberry Bottom Lane.

Firefighters reported fire and smoke coming from the rear and roof of the two-story home upon arrival. Two adults were at home and self-evacuated before firefighters arrived on scene. Firefighters brought the fire under control in approximately 25 minutes. One adult female was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Two have been displaced. Red Cross was not needed.

Damage is estimated at $ 280,000.

According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. Lighting strike to the house caused the fire.
