Falls Church House Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire at approximately 6:05 p.m., Thursday, August 23, 2007, in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County. The house is located at 2917 Meadow Lane.

Firefighters encountered smoke and fire visible from the second floor of the two-story cape-cod style home upon arrival. Firefighters brought the fire under control in approximately 15 minutes. Four adults and one child have been displaced. One firefighter was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.

Damage is estimated at $45,000.

According to fire investigators, the cause of the fire was accidental. A heat lamp too close to a cardboard greenhouse on the second floor caused the fire.
