Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a townhouse fire at approximately 9:10 a.m., Sunday, August 26, 2007, in the Seven Woods area of Fairfax County. The home is located at 3861 Havenwood Place.
Firefighters experienced heavy fire and smoke coming from the front and side of the two story wood frame townhouse. Subsequently, a second alarm was promptly called, for relief of the crews operating on the initial fire bringing over 60 firefighters to the emergency scene. Through an aggressive attack, firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in approximately twenty minutes. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians . The Red Cross is assisting the family of three.
Damage is estimated at approximately $100,000.
According to fire investigators, the cause of the fire was intentionally set by a juvenile. Charges are being pursued through the juvenile system.
