Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire at approximately 2 a.m., Sunday, October 14, 2007, in the Springfield area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 7303 Bonniemill Lane.
Firefighters experienced heavy fire throughout the home and attached garage. The two-story home was approximately fifty percent involved with fire upon arrival of firefighters. The fire was brought under control in approximately 25 minutes. Both occupants escaped unharmed. A vehicle in the driveway was also exposed to the fire and a total loss. An adjacent home received minor heat damage to the vinyl siding. There were no injuries.
Damage is estimated at $550,000. The home was total loss.
According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. Improper smoking materials found in a chair caused the fire.
