Mount Vernon House Fire Did Not Cause Fatality (update)

Carla LeClercq, 68, was found dead in her home by firefighters following a fire at 8223 Treebrooke Lane, Monday evening, October 15, 2007, in the Mount Vernon area of Fairfax County. According to the medical examiner, the fire did not cause her death.

Firefighters responded to a single-family house fire and discovered LeClercq in a second floor bedroom during a primary search. The cause of the fire was accidental according to fire investigators. Improper disposal of smoking materials caused the fire.

The exact cause of death is still to be determined. Foul play was not involved.
