Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a commercial building fire at approximately 11 a.m., Friday, December 21, 2007, in the McLean area of Fairfax County. The commercial building is located at 1301 Dolley Madison Boulevard.
Firefighters reported fire from the first floor and smoke from the roof of the two-story office building. The fire was brought under control in approximately 15 minutes. There were no reported injuries. The fire caused extensive damage to the first floor, and smoke damage to the second floor.
Damage is estimated at $200,000.
According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. An electric space heater too closed to combustible materials on the first floor caused the fire.
