Two-Alarm Fairfax Station Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire Friday, December 28, 2007, at approximately 2:50 a.m., in the Fairfax Station area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 5416 Colchester Meadow Lane.

Firefighters encountered fire and smoke from the rear and attic of the two-story single-family home upon arrival. A second-alarm was requested bringing over 60 emergency personnel to the scene. Firefighters brought the fire under control in approximately 25 minutes. There were no injuries.

Damage is estimated at $340,000.

According to fire investigators, the cause of the fire was accidental. An electrical anomaly within the joist space below the first floor caused the fire.
