Oakton Vacant House Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire Friday, January 4, 2008, at approximately 6:15 a.m. in the Oakton area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 3538 Marseilles Drive.

Firefighters encountered a two-story home fully engulfed with fire upon arrival. The home, approximately 40 feet by 40 feet, had flames approximately 30 feet high. Fairfax County and Fairfax City firefighters brought the fire under control in approximately 25 minutes. The house had been vacant for several months prior to the fire. There were no injuries.

The home was destroyed.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
