Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire at approximately 10:10 p.m., Sunday, January 13, 2008, in the Franconia area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 6214 Franconia Forest Lane.
Firefighters encountered heavy smoke visible from the second floor of the two-story home upon arrival. Firefighters brought the fire under control in approximately 10 minutes. A total of five people were displaced, two adult males, two adult females, and one child.
There were no injuries. The Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.
Damage is estimated at $150,000.
According to fire investigators, a child playing with a lighter in a second-floor bedroom caused the fire.
