Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department fire investigators charged John M. Simons, 24, of Herndon, Sunday, May 18, 2008, for setting a fire in an occupied dwelling (Virginia Code 18.2-77), setting a fire in an unoccupied dwelling (Virginia Code 18.2-80), starting a fire involving property valued greater than $200.00 (Virginia Code 18.2-81), and setting a fire involving property valued less than $200.00 (Virginia Code 18.2-81). He is being charged with three felonies and one misdemeanor.
There were no injuries.
The charges are in connection with the fires set in the Herndon area of Fairfax County on May 1, 2008, at 1703 Saddler Wells Drive, 1698 Winterwood Court, 1715 Sadler Wells Drive, and 1628 Winterwood Court.
Total damages for all fires is estimated at $8,000.
Simons is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
