Ching Ho Wang, 52, of 3702 Paul Street, has been identified as the victim of the house fire Saturday, February 20, 2010.
The fire was intentionally set by the deceased. The cause of death was smoke and thermal inhalation.
This is the fourth fire fatality for 2010.
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire at approximately 5:55 a.m., Saturday, February 20, 2010, in the Bailey's Crossroads area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 3702 Paul Street.
Firefighters encountered smoke and fire coming from the basement and front of the rambler-style home upon arrival. While fighting the fire from inside the basement, crews discovered a deceased adult male in a bedroom during their primary search. Two dogs in another bedroom also perished in the fire. The fire was brought under control in in less than 10 minutes. The fire started in a bedroom in the basement. There were no other injuries. Seven occupants have been displaced by the fire. Red Cross is assisting the family.
The identity and cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner.
Damage is estimated at $80,000.
Police and fire investigators are investigating the incident.
