2011 EMS Week Activities Scheduled For May 21
The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department will reach out to the community by hosting activities at several recreation centers from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, May 21, 2011, in support of national Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week.
The theme for this year’s EMS Week is “Everyday Heroes.” This theme celebrates the exceptional service being provided to countless patients every day, often under incredibly challenging circumstances. It clearly shows that EMS providers are dedicated to saving lives and limiting suffering on a daily basis.
Partnering with the Park Authority, EMS providers will be available with various displays, educational materials for adults and children, blood pressure screenings, and apparatus displays at the following recreation centers:
Cub Run Recreation Center
4630 Stonecroft Boulevard
Mount Vernon Recreation Center
2017 Belle View Boulevard
South Run Recreation Center
7550 Reservation Drive
Spring Hill Recreation Center
1239 Spring Hill Road
Oak Marr Recreation Center
3200 Jermantown Road
In fiscal year 2010, EMS providers in Fairfax County responded to nearly 65,900 EMS calls, and transported over 47,200 patients to medical facilities.
Everyone is encouraged to visit, meet our EMS providers, and participate in EMS Week 2011.
