Accidental Dunn Loring Townhouse Fire
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a townhouse fire Sunday, June 19, 2011, at approximately 3 a.m., in the Dunn Loring area of Fairfax County. The townhouse is located at 8129 Larkin Lane.
Firefighters saw smoke and fire coming from the roof and attic area of the middle, two-story townhouse upon arrival. Firefighters conducted an offensive attack, quickly bringing the fire under control. The fire was contained to the upper floor, eaves, and the attic area. An adult male discovered the fire from a ceiling vent, however, smoke alarms did activate shortly thereafter. Two adults and three children escaped unharmed and have been displaced. There were no injuries. Red Cross assistance was declined.
Damage is estimated at $75,000.
According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. The fire started near an attic fan.
