Accidental Great Falls House Fire
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire, Sunday, August 7, 2011, at approximately 10:55 a.m. in the Great Falls area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located 10107 Nedra Drive.
Firefighters encountered heavy fire and smoke coming from the three-car garage and fire extending into the living area of the two-story home upon arrival. Firefighters deployed several fire hose lines to the interior and exterior of the home and brought the fire under control in approximately 20 minutes. By conducting an aggressive interior fire attack, there was only minor damage sustained to the second floor master bedroom. There was residual smoke and water damage to a portion of the home. There was no one home when the fire broke out. There were no injuries.
Damage is estimated at $200,000.
According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. The point of fire origin was a vehicle parked in the garage.
