Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a commercial structure fire, Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at approximately 6:20 p.m., in the Herndon area of Fairfax County. The commercial building, Kohl’s Department Store, is located at 2100 Centreville Road.
Firefighters encountered heavy smoke throughout the store upon arrival. Firefighters found the seat of the fire at a clothing rack in the women’s section of the store. Sprinklers had activated and extinguished the bulk of the fire. Firefighters checked for fire and extension and ventilated the store. The store was evacuated when smoke alarms sounded. There were no injuries.
Damage is undetermined.
According to fire investigators, the fire was intentionally set. The investigation continues.
