Commercial Building Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue units responded to a commercial building fire, Friday, November 23, at approximately 8 p.m. in the Providence District of Fairfax County. The building is located at 1880 Howard Avenue.
Firefighters encountered smoke showing from the rear of the three-story building upon arrival. Firefighters conducted and aggressive fire attack and brought the fire under control in approximately 10 minutes keeping the fire tightly contained. The business was closed at the time of the fire and there were no injuries reported. According to fire investigators, the fire was caused by a malfunctioning dryer that was running at the time the store closed.
Damage is estimated at $75,000.
