Dog Rescued in Great Falls House Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units responded to a house fire, Friday, November 29, 2013, at approximately 7:30 p.m., in the Great Falls area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 717 Forest Park Road.
Firefighters reported heavy smoke and fire coming from all sides of the two-story home upon arrival. Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack and brought the fire under control in approximately 20 minutes. A nearby neighbor was alerted by sounding smoke alarms and called 911. No one was home when the fire broke out. Two occupants have been displaced. The home received major damage due to fire, smoke, and water. The fire originated in the kitchen. Firefighters, during their primary search, rescued two dogs. An eight-month old Labrador/Great Dane puppy was revived at the scene using a pet oxygen mask.
Damage is estimated at $300,000.
The fire is under investigation.
