Date: December 11, 2013
Partnering with private corporations and local businesses, Fairfax County firefighters and paramedics are sponsoring the 16th Annual Firefighters Holiday Rescuer's Toy Distribution, Tuesday, December 17, 2013, from 10:45 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Penn Daw Fire and Rescue Station 11, 6624 Hulvey Terrace, Alexandria, Virginia.
Department members, Progressive Firefighters of Fairfax County, Inc., and International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 2068, have been collecting toys, games, coats, and other items to be distributed to children throughout Fairfax County during the holiday season.
Through generous donations and support from businesses and civic organizations including Operation Warm/Firefighters Coats for Kids, Promax Realtors, Apple Federal Credit Union, Nationwide Credit Corporation, the Rotary Club of Tysons Corner, Fairfax County Federation of Teachers, SEIU-512, Deloitte Consulting, and the Connection Newspapers, it is anticipated that several thousand school-aged children and their families will again receive gifts this holiday season. Area preschool children will also be on hand to receive new toys from firefighters.
