Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Station 41, Crosspointe, will open its doors at 7 a.m., Monday, May 7, 2007. The station will become operational and have a staff of 39 personnel on three separate shifts.
Crosspointe is the second fire and rescue station built using “green building design” and sustainable materials such as bamboo and cork flooring, exposed wheat board cabinetry, recycled glass used in tiles, innovative use of natural light, and is part of the Leadership Energy and Environment Design (LEED) Program.
The station will house an engine, advanced life support unit, ladder truck, tanker, and an EMS Supervisor. The station will become the 37th station in the county.
The station is approximately 14,800 square feet with four drive though bays, and will serve the Hampton Woods, Crosspointe, Virginia Estates, Southpointe, Lorfax Heights, and Lorton communities.
A community grand opening will be planned this summer.
