LIFE SAFETY EDUCATION

The Fire & Rescue Department's Public Affairs & Life Safety Education Section is the primary point of contact for general fire and rescue educational topics and life safety community outreach programs. Please call 703-246-3801 for additional information.

BUSINESS, COMMUNITY & INDUSTRY OUTREACH

The Office of the Fire Marshal periodically provides outreach education and training to various business, community, and industry organizations on topics related to the Fire Prevention Code. Contact the Fire Inspections Branch at 703-246-4849 for additional information.

FIRE ALARM & SPRINKER SYSTEMS TRAINING (FASST) LAB

FIRE INSPECTOR RECERTIFICATION TRAINING CONTINUING EDUCATION

The Office of the Fire Marshal conducts continuing education training on the first Wednesday of each month for fire inspectors certified by the Virginia Department of Fire Programs (VDFP) and the Virginia Department of Housing & Community Development (DHCD). Unless otherwise specified in the training schedule below, all continuing education training classes are approved by both VDFP (1031 recertification) and DHCD (continuing education credit).

Classes are routinely held from 6:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. in the Public Safety Conference Center on the A-Level of the Massey Building (Public Safety Center) located in the City of Fairfax. However, class dates, times and locations are subject to change due to the type of training provided or due to logistical/scheduling conflicts.

For updates on scheduled training dates, times and locations, refer to this website or call 703-246-4894 for up-to-date information and changes. To verify class cancellations, please call no more than 24 hours prior to the scheduled training date.

If the Fairfax County government grants Unscheduled Leave, or if the County government is closed, the scheduled training class for that day is cancelled. Although not guaranteed, cancelled classes may be rescheduled for a future date other than a first Wednesday of the month.
