PUBLIC FACILTIES MANUAL

The Fairfax County Public Facilities Manual (PFM) sets forth the guidelines which govern the design of all public facilities which must be constructed to serve new development.


SPECIAL INSPECTIONS MANUAL

The Fairfax County Special Inspections Manual (SIM) documents the requirements of the Fairfax County Special Inspections Program which was established in 1973 after the collapse of a 26-story concrete structure during construction. The program monitors all major commercial and residential construction projects in Fairfax County. The Fire Marshal is involved in issues addressed in chapters 15 (Smoke Control) and 17 (Safeguards During Construction).
