SUBJECT: Fireworks Related Permit Fees & Insurance Requirements (Changes Effective July 1, 2006)

At a regular meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Fairfax County, Virginia, held in the Board Auditorium of the Government Center at Fairfax, Virginia on Monday, June 26, 2006, the Board adopted amendments to Chapter 62 of the Fairfax County Fire Code. Some amendments reflect changes to the fee schedule and Fire Prevention Code Permit (FPCP) requirements for firework displays and sales. These changes became effective July 1, 2006.

Applicable Changes to FPCP Fees:

- Retail Sales of Permissible Fireworks - Any Amount 45 Day Permit $600.00
- Wholesale of Permissible Fireworks - Any Amount 45 Day Permit $600.00
- Outdoor Fireworks Display 1 Day Permit $400.00
- Indoor Fireworks Display & Pyrotechnic Special Effects 1 Day Permit $400.00

Required liability insurance is now $5,000,000 combined single limit for bodily injury and property damage. This increase in insurance applies to aerial firework displays and the sale of permissible fireworks.
