Fairfax County is committed to enhancing community quality of life by sustaining a healthy urban forest and preserving the natural environment through science, education, collaboration, and partnerships. The Urban and Community Forestry Division, alongside the Forest Health Branch and the Watershed Forestry Branch, leads efforts to maintain and expand the county's natural resources. The Forest Health Branch monitors forests for harmful insects and pathogens while implementing the county's Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program to address pest issues responsibly. The Watershed Forestry Branch manages tree planting programs to restore watersheds and expand the urban forest. Together, these efforts ensure the vitality and resilience of Fairfax County's natural ecosystems.
