Fairfax County General District Court: Interpreter Services
Interpreters for speech or hearing impaired persons and non-English speaking individuals will be provided free of charge in the General District Court. Spanish interpreters are available to assist in the courtrooms on a daily basis from 8:30AM to 4:30PM with no notice needed. Korean and Vietnamese interpreters are also available daily for the 9:30AM dockets only with no advance notice needed. All other interpreters, including Korean and Vietnamese interpreters for the afternoon dockets, will be scheduled as needed with a two day notice to the Court Services Division.
To request an interpreter, you will need to go to the Court Services Division, room 203, to fill out the appropriate paperwork. If you have any questions, please call the Court Services Division at 703-246-7530.
Interpreters needed for long civil case trials or for protective order hearings will also need to be requested in writing in the Court Services Division. Interpreters are not available for long civil trials or protective oder hearings unless requested in advance. This includes the Spanish, Korean and Vietnamese languages if there is a one hour or longer trial.
*Interpreters for speech-impaired or hearing-impaired individuals should be requested at least two weeks in advance of the court date.
With advance notice to the Spanish Language Coordinator (703-246-3585)
or Court Services Division (703-246-7530), interpreters can be provided
for court appointed attorney-client interviews of incarcerated defendants
or clients out on bond. Contact the Court Services Division for
more information concerning this service. The Court does not
provide interpreters to assist in translation of documents.
