Community Meeting Held April 27; Public Comments Due May 18, 2017
Fairfax County Department of Transportation (FCDOT) held a community meeting to discuss proposed striping changes on Glade Drive on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at 6:30 p.m., in the cafeteria of Hunters Woods Elementary School, 2401 Colts Neck Road, Reston. The purpose of the meeting was to gather input on various proposals to improve bicycling in the corridor.
The meeting consisted of an open house from 6:30-8 p.m. Staff had display boards and design plans available for review, and were available to answer any questions from attendees. Participants were given a comment form to select the proposal they support and provide any additional feedback.
Residents wishing to submit feedback may use the Glade Drive Restriping Comment Form, and send the completed document to FCDOT Bicycle Program, 4050 Legato Road, Suite 400, Fairfax, VA 22033; or email to DOTbicycleprograms@fairfaxcounty.gov. As part of the Virginia Department of Transportation's (VDOT) 2017 repaving schedule, bike lanes and sharrows have been proposed for Glade Drive from Glade Bank Way to Twin Branches Road.
The proposed improvements are limited to changes that can be made with roadway striping as part of the repaving process. Community members are invited to give feedback on traffic safety, bicycling and the pedestrian environment on this segment of Glad Drive in the Hunter Mill District.
