The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) operates Metrobus and Metrorail transit services within Fairfax County. WMATA also provides the Trip Planner to help you plan your travel using these and other regional transit services.
Metrobus
Metrobus operates
many bus routes in Fairfax County in areas such as Centreville,
Chantilly, Fair Oaks, Burke, Annandale, Baileys Crossroads,
Seven Corners, Tysons Corner, Alexandria, Fort Belvoir, and
Springfield.
You may catch
Metrobus at any Metrorail station or at any of the Metrobus
bus stop signs along the route. Almost all Metrobus routes connect
with Metrorail stations.
Metrorail
There are Metrorail stations in or near Fairfax County on the Orange, Blue and Yellow lines. All Metrorail stations in Fairfax County are served by Metrobus, most are also served by Fairfax Connector. Many of these stations also offer parking facilities and bike racks.
Note: SmarTrip cards are now required for Metro-operated parking areas. Sufficient funds must be on the card to pay the full cost for parking in order to exit or enter the parking facilities. Parking at Metro-operated lots is FREE on weekends and federal holidays.
