Transportation Demand Management (TDM)

About TDM

The goal of TDM is to make it easier to get around the county by reducing the number of cars on the road. Implementing TDM measures can reduce the number of car trips, whether they are personal or business-related. TDM programs in Fairfax County can include financial or other incentives to meet goals. The county actively helps support property owners, agents and tenants through outreach and coordination activities in order to meet goals. Fairfax County requires developers to encourage the use of transit, ridesharing, biking walking and other alternatives in order for their development plans to be approved. Various factors, such as accessibility to transit and type of development helps to define the level of TDM participation needed.
