Public Hearing - The Fairfax County Planning Commission approved the Phase II, Technical Corrections on June 13, 2007. The Board of Supervisors will hold a Public Hearing on Monday, August 6, 2007 at 4:00 PM in the Board Auditorium of the Government Center, 12000 Government Center Pkwy, Fairfax, VA, to consider proposed revisions to the Comprehensive Plan for Fairfax County, VA. Phase II, Technical Corrections

Phase II, Technical Corrections was authorized by a motion of the Board of Supervisors and the Planning Commission. Proposed Plan Amendment S01-CW-17CP(B) will consider technical and editorial changes to the text and transportation-related figures in the four Area Plan volumes of the Comprehensive Plan to be consistent with the Fairfax County Transportation Plan Map, as adopted by the Board of Supervisors on July 31, 2006 in S01-CW-17CP, as well as to be technically correct with respect to: typographical errors, transportation figure annotations and cartographic improvements, text formatting improvements, factual corrections and corrections due to transportation improvements or projects having been implemented or completed.

In addition to the technical and editorial changes to the text and transportation-related figures, a circle is proposed to be added to the Fairfax County Transportation Plan Map designating a full interchange improvement at Fairfax County Parkway and Sunset Hills Road/Spring Street.

From September through November of 2006, County staff presented draft technical corrections of the Area Plan text to the Planning Commission Transportation Committee, the Transportation Advisory Commission and to the transportation/land use committees in the Supervisory Districts.

The Planning Commission held a public hearing on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at 8:15 PM in the Board Auditorium of the Government Center to consider proposed Phase II revisions as well as the proposed circle to be added at Fairfax County Parkway and Sunset Hills Road / Spring Street. Decision was deferred to June 13, 2007 and on that date the Planning Commission approved the Phase II, Technical Corrections.

November 2005 Public Meetings

In November 2005, seven public meetings were held at various locations around the County to encourage additional comments and suggestions on the Transportation Plan before the public hearings, that were held in 2006. The comment period was opened again for a month and suggestions were collected and included in the final response report (please see Attachment 7 above).

July 2005 Workshops

In July 2005, two forecasting workshops were advertised and offered to discuss the findings of the travel demand forecasting in Fairfax County. Employment and household projections were estimated and heavily traveled corridors in Fairfax County were highlighted for future improvements.

March 2005 Meetings

In March 2005, a series of seven meetings were held throughout the County inviting citizens and stakeholders to learn more about the Transportation Plan Update process and encourage suggestions and comments on the plan. The first public comment period began in December 2004 and ended in May 2005. All comments were documented and will be included in the final response report in 2006.
