On December 7, 2021 the Board of Supervisors authorized the consideration of a Comprehensive Plan amendment for the Brookside Motel (Tax Map Parcel 83-3 ((1)) 57A and 59) in the Mount Vernon District. The adopted Plan for this area recommends residential use at 5-8 dwelling units per acre with an option for a public park in the Mount Vernon Planning District of the Area IV volume of the Comprehensive Plan. The Board requested that staff consider multi-family residential development on the subject property, after a floodplain study and Resource Protection Area (RPA) delineation have been completed and approved by staff to locate the pre-development 100-year floodplain and RPA, respectively. The Plan amendment will then be reviewed concurrently with a rezoning application when submitted.
