Grand Jury meets the 3rd Monday of every odd
numbered month (January, March, May, July, September and November).
Criminal Term Day is held at 10:00 a.m. the next day.
Exceptions:
(1) Should Grand Jury fall on a state holiday,
it will proceed the next business day and Term Day will follow
on the next day.
(2) In the event that a mandatory judicial conference
is being held, usually in May, contact the Clerk's Office for
actual Grand Jury and Term Day dates.
It is mandatory that all defendants on bond
and their attorney appear for Term Day. The function of Term Day
is to set Circuit Court trial dates. Trial dates will be set within
the term of court and not beyond.
Bench warrants will be issued for those who
fail to appear on Term Day. Individuals incarcerated for charges
pending at Grand Jury, who already have a trial date scheduled,
do not appear for Term Day. If it is necessary to set a trial
date for a person incarcerated the Clerk's Office will notify
the Sheriff's Office so the defendant will be brought to the Term
Day proceeding.
Interim Grand Jury meets the 3rd Monday of every
even numbered month (February, April, June, August, October and
December). Should Interim Grand Jury fall on a state holiday,
it will proceed the next business day. Interim Grand Jury is only
for those individuals that are incarcerated at the time of their
preliminary hearing. Circuit Court trial dates are set at the
preliminary hearing for these people. There is no Term Day following
Interim Grand Jury.
