The Bike Benefit Match Program
Starting this spring and for a
limited time, the Fairfax County Employer
Services Program will provide Fairfax County employers with
financial assistance to implement an employee bike benefit program for
their employees who bike to work at least 80 percent of the time.
Employers who are interested in this new pilot program must have a minimum of 100 employees on-site and agree to participate in the program for one year.
Each employer will receive a fifty percent (50%) match for each employee participating. For example, if 10 employees participate in the program and the employer agrees to provide the full monthly Bike Benefit ($20) per employee, Fairfax County will reimburse the Employer for 50% of the cost, per participant per month for one year.
EXAMPLE:
10 employees (bike commuters) receive the $20 monthly benefit
10 x $20 x 12 months = $2,400
Fairfax County will subsidize that cost at 50% or $1,200
The matching funds will be supplied to the employer and could be used to purchase bike racks, lockers, signage or for marketing the program. It’s up to the employer!
FCDOT will require simple travel diaries from each Bike Benefit Match participant on a monthly or quarterly basis. These travel diaries can be completed on-line or submitted on a simple one page document to the employer by the employee. FCDOT will then collect this valuable data and calculate trip reduction efforts at each specific employer site.
